With many people using therapies and a holistic approach to heal several diseases, therefore we’ll today add another therapy to your list known as Whole Body Vibration (WBV).
Whole-body vibration therapy has been around the fringes of mainstream medical science for some period now. There have been many advocates who have suggested this therapy to be beneficial to human health. There has been scientific evidence to back up these claims, and all of them have so far been elusive.
How does whole body vibration reduce diabetes inflammation?
The new study suggests that this whole body vibration therapy can alter the gut microbiome and because of that, reduce diabetes-related inflammation.
This is how it happens… When one is suffering from diabetes, the levels of inflammation, and glucose soar. The therapy works by improving how well the body uses glucose as an energy source and then adjust the body’s microbe and immune cells, which deter inflammation.
The whole body vibration therapy is also reported to yield a more significant percentage of macrophages. These are cells that both prevent suppression.
Most of the tests were done on mice models. And in these models, the researchers saw increased levels of a bacterium that makes short-chain fatty acids. This is important because it helps the body to utilize glucose better.
New Finding
One of the dramatic changes that were recorded and documented by scientists concerning the whole body vibration was the 17-fold increase in a type of bacterium. The bacterium is known as Alistipes. It is a gut bacterium that is not in high supply; however, it is known to be proficient at making short-chain fatty acids. These fatty acids chains do an excellent job at decreasing inflammation in the gut.
Further studies also revealed that Alistipes helps to ferment food without any production of alcohol. From that, it generally improves the metabolic status of the gut, and consequently, makes you more proficient at using the glucose each day for energy. We all know when we consume glucose at high levels, it will start promoting insulin insensitivity, inflammation, and finally diabetes.
Final Thoughts
From the research, researchers reiterated that while no one is certain about how the Whole Body Vibration works; however, still there is a likelihood for the therapy to address inflammation and diabetes.
However, what is still unclear is the relationship between M2 macrophages and Alistipes. (M2 macrophages function in constructive processes like wound healing and tissue repair). There is still no clear explanation of whether the bacteria influence the presence of M2 macrophages or vice versa. Furthermore, it’s not clear how the therapy could be causing the microbiome and metabolic changes.
The therapy might still have some unanswered questions. However, with the rates of inflammation producing related type-2 diabetes and obesity – even in children – it makes the whole body vibration therapy worth trying out. Moreover, other therapies that can help to avoid the consequences of inflammation are crucial and worth trying. The therapy is generally safe, so no worries of experiencing side effects.
Well, most of the studies may be done on a mouse, but it is unlikely the therapy confers the same dramatic anti-inflammatory and microbiome actions in the human body and even at a significant extent.
